I make quite a bit of bread. I try to make all the bread we eat from scratch. That means my bread towels get used a lot! From sourdough to artisan bread, rolls to bagels, they get used a lot!
I learned to cover bread dough in a light coat of oil then let it rise underneath a bread cloth. It’s such a beautiful look, to me, to see that bowl on the counter, covered in a cloth with the smell of rising bread.
The down side to this is the cloth will often get oil on it and I have really soaked the cloth in oil before. Now it is up to the washing machine to get it out. As mentioned in This POST> I am not very good at laundry. Oil spots are not uncommon on my clothes and a full towel of oil will often not get as clean as it should. Every once and awhile, I will deep clean these towels.
Here is how I do it, nothing fancy and possibly not the best way, but it works good enough for me.
