Herbs you can grow in zone 5

Herbs are amazing things!! They flavor the food we eat but they are also great for medicinal purposes. In this post, I will be focusing on culinary herbs. There are lots of herbs you can plant and you can usually plant any herb in any region, however, not all herbs can survive winters. Below are the list of perennial herbs I grow in my garden and the annual ones I grow.

Perennial herbs that come back year after year.

Oregano

Thyme

Chives

Terragon

Annual herbs I have to plant each year.

Basil

Onions

Garlic

Marjoram

Parsley

Dill

Rosemary

There are some other herbs that you can grow but my family does not eat them much so I do not waste my time and effort on these herbs. These include:

Coriander

Cilantro

It is always best to grow food your going to eat and not get caught up in the fun of growing things. I have certainly grown some things my family doesn’t eat and guess what?? We didn’t eat them and they ended up going bad. This holds true for herbs to in my opinion. I did plant Terragon this year which I do not know if we like because I fell pray to the excitement of new plants. Ope, I guess we shall find out what it tastes like!!
